Earlier, we reported that Mahindra is working on a 125cc variant of its highest selling scooter, the Gusto. Recently, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer confirmed the launch of their new scooter codenamed as, the G108, which we believe will be the upgraded version of Gusto. The company will conduct media rides for their upcoming scooter in Lavasa on 12th of this month. If emerging reports on the web are to be believed, the latest entrant to the Mahindra’s scooter fleet will be launched anytime soon. The company will pitch it against the segment leaders, Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access.
As far as the engine is concerned, the new Gusto is expected to get a 126.6cc, 4-stroke engine of Duro 125 and Rodeo UZO, which is rumoured to deliver around 9.8bhp of power and the peak torque of 10.5Nm. The scooter might return a fuel economy of 60kmpl. However, the company might retain the similar looks but we can expect few tweaks in design.
The new Gusto will be based on the same platform and will get similar features like height adjustable seat, 'find me' headlamps and a remote flip key but it is expected to get more storage space and new LED tail lamps.
The current generation Gusto is powered by 109.6cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled M-Tec engine that produces 8bhp at 7500rpm and 9Nm at 5500rpm. It has tasted mild success in the market and with the launch of 125cc variant, Mahindra is eyeing to further improve its market presence.
