The Italian motorcycle manufacturer Moto Guzzi, a fully owned subsidiary of legendary automaker Piaggio has launched the Bellagio bike in India at a starting price of Rs. 15.2 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Moto Guzzi has stepped into the Indian two-wheeler market recently with its Greso 1200 8V in December 2012. The Bellagio is powered by an air-cooled, four-stroke, 935cc V-twin engine mated to a 6-speed transmission. This engine builds a healthy power output of 75bhp with a peak torque of 78Nm. The power goes to the rear wheel through a ‘compact reactive cardan shaft’ transmission. The bike weighs only 224 kg, which returns an impressive power to weight ratio. As it a touring bike it comes with a 19-litre fuel tank, which will allow for a good travel range.
Moto Guzzi has initiated the bookings for the Bellagio. Northwards Motors dealership, which is the first and only dealership of the brand in the country, is taking the booking for the bike. Initially, there is a waiting period of six weeks for delivery. Moto Guzzi officials told that response for the premium Italian brand has been satisfactory with the dealership registering few sales. The Bellagio will compete with the likes of Ducati Streetfighter and premium cruisers from Harley-Davidson.
