Here’s how Ola’s flagship e-scooter goes up against the latest e-scooter from BGauss, the RUV 350

Ola S1 Pro vs BGauss RUV 350 Max: Image Comparison

The Ola S1 Pro is one of the most feature-packed electric scooters in India and is the manufacturer’s flagship offering. Recently BGauss launched their latest electric scooter, the RUV 350 and it comes with an unconventional design and represents a different take on what e-scooters can be. The RUV 350 Max variant goes up against the S1 Pro and you can find a detailed comparison here.

Design

The Ola S1 Pro has a very sleek and clean design, and one that is quite unique. The design language used here is one that we have come to associate with the brand. Although the scooter is quite sleek and compact, it doesn’t fail to attract attention when out on the road.

BGauss has done something quite different with the RUV 350. They’ve given it quite an unconventional design, one that makes the e-scooter look similar to underbone scooters, usually found on the streets of Southeast Asian nations like Vietnam. The RUV 350 won’t fail to attract attention and stand out compared to the other scooters in the market.

Performance

When looking at performance, the Ola S1 Pro is powered by an 11kW motor which offers the scooter a claimed top speed of 120kmph. The motor is linked to a 4kWh battery pack which offers it a claimed range of 180km in Eco mode and 143km in normal mode.

The BGauss RUV 350 on the other hand, has a 3.5kW motor which gives it a claimed top speed of 75kmph. The e-scooter gets a 3kWh battery pack which gives it a claimed real world range of 120km.

Underpinnings

When it comes to underpinnings, both e-scooters are quite different in some ways. The Ola S1 Pro is built on a tubular frame and is suspended on a telescopic fork and monoshock. It rolls on alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. Braking duties are handled by a 220mm front and 180mm rear disc with combined braking system (CBS) as standard. It has a kerb weight of 116kg.

The BGauss RUV 350, too, is built on a tubular frame. It gets a telescopic fork and a 5-step adjustable shock absorber. The RUV 350 rolls on large 16-inch alloys with tubeless tyres. Braking duties are handled by 130mm drums at both ends, with combined braking system (CBS) as standard. It has a kerb weight of 122kg.

Features

The Ola S1 Pro has a lot to offer in terms of features, it gets a 7-inch touch enabled TFT console. There’s a ton of features on offer including smartphone connectivity and related features such as full-fledged navigation, call/SMS alerts, along with security features such as geofencing, anti-theft alerts and more. The scooter also gets OTA (over the air) updates. For a detailed breakdown of the features, check out our story here.

RUV 350 is a bit more basic, it comes with a non-touch enabled 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and related features such as turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts. Other features include hill hold, roll over detection, regen braking along with side stand and main stand motor cutoff.

Which E-scooter Should You Buy?

The Ola S1 Pro comes at a price of Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom, including electric mobility promotion scheme or EMPS). The RUV 350 Max on the other hand costs Rs 1,34,999 which is Rs 5,000 more than the Ola S1 Pro.

When looking at what each has to offer, it is hard to deny that the Ola S1 Pro is a better deal as it offers more features, better brakes and more claimed range. But the BGauss RUV 350 has a major advantage over the S1 Pro, which is the larger wheels, which in theory translates into better handling. The larger wheels can absorb bumps and potholes better and also provide better stability when leaned over.

So, finally, if you are looking for a scooter that has more features, and range and has a better service and dealership network, then you can consider the Ola S1 Pro. But if you want to stand out in the crowd with something quite unconventional and want motorcycle-like handling from your scooter, then the BGauss RUV 350 Max would be the one for you.
