The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is about to launch soon and this what we know so far:
Royal Enfield is all set to unveil the Classic 650 at the EICMA motor show and the bike has been spied testing in India. Before its official unveil, let’s have a look at what we know about the Royal Enfield Classic 650 so far:
Design
The Royal Enfield Classic 650’s design resembles that of the Classic 350. It features a retro-styled headlamp, mudguards, and a round tail light. The fuel tank from the spied image shows that the bike in one of the colours which it will be offered in will get a striking dual-tone finish in maroon and cream, and gets Royal Enfield's classic branding – one of the two new logos trademarked earlier this year.
Engine and Underpinnings
Powering the Classic 650 will be the same 648cc parallel-twin engine found in the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650, Bear 650, and Shotgun 650. This engine produces 47.6PS and 52Nm, and these figures are expected to remain consistent for the Classic 650. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox. However, Royal Enfield could tweak the gearing and engine mapping to better suit the Classic’s relaxed riding dynamics.
The motorcycle should get a tubular steel frame, with suspension duties handled by a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. The braking system may be a 320mm disc with a twin-piston floating calliper up front and a 300mm disc at the rear, both equipped with ABS just like the one on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. The spied model also showcases chrome-finished engine cases, spoke wheels (expected to be 18-inch units at both ends) with tube tyres, and dual pea-shooter exhausts.
Features
The motorcycle is expected to get the same instrument console as the Super Meteor 650 which gets an analogue dial with a small LCD inset. The spy images show that the Classic 650 will get LED lights all around.
Expected Price and Launch
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is expected to be priced around Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike will be unveiled at EICMA and showcased at Royal Enfield’s Motoverse event at Goa later this year. Expect the bike to be on sale in India later in December or early next year.
