The Avenis is the sportiest scooter from Suzuki for India

[UPDATE: The Suzuki Avenis has been launched at Rs 86,700 onwards. For the features, specifications and other details, read our launch story].

2021 seems to be the year of the sporty scooters! First we got the Yamaha Aerox 155, recently the Aprilia SR160 and now Suzuki has joined the bandwagon with the new Avenis. Images for the new Suzuki 125cc scooter have been leaked a couple of hours before its official launch and it is the third scooter from the Japanese brand after the Access 125 and the Burgman Street.

The Suzuki Avenis is a sporty scooter and it looks the part. At first glance, the Avenis looks like the TVS Ntorq 125, which isn’t a bad thing as it is among the most attractive scooters on sale in India. But we would have preferred a more original approach from Suzuki. The apron is raked out and has a dual-tone finish while the sharp body panels add a bit of aggression. The face is dominated by the striking LED headlight, while the indicators have been positioned on the handlebar. It uses subtle graphics on the apron and the rear panel. From the teaser we know that the taillight is an LED unit.

The Suzuki Avenis gets an all-digital instrument console as seen on its siblings. It also gets Bluetooth connectivity with call/message alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. The Avenis also sports an external fuel filler cap that can be accessed via the keyhole, USB charger, silent starter motor and an engine kill switch.

While we don’t have details about the Suzuki Avenis engine, we expect it to be powered by the same 125cc motor as seen on the Access 125. The air-cooled engine produces 8.7PS and 10Nm. It will be interesting to see whether Suzuki will tune it for better performance. The underpinnings is also likely to be shared with its 125cc siblings.

The  Suzuki Avenis pricing will be announced in a couple of hours and we expect it to retail for around Rs 85,000 and it will compete with the TVS Ntorq 125 and the Aprilia SR 125.
