Top 5 Low-Speed Electric Scooters You Can Buy In India Right Now

Modified On Sep 28, 2021 03:46 PM By Manaal Mahatme for Hero Electric Flash

Equally convenient, light on the pocket, and do not require a license. Who wouldn’t want one?

With the likes of Ola Electric entering the market, the electric two-wheeler space in India has been gaining momentum lately. While these e-scooters pack more range and performance for a price, the other side of the spectrum has low-speed, affordable alternatives.

Sure, they may not seem as exciting as premium offerings like the Ather 450X or offer as much range as the Simple One. But these are equally convenient for everyday use and do not require a driving licence. So, if that excites you and you want to own one, here are our top five picks:

Hero Flash LX: Rs 56,940

The Hero Electric Flash LX is the most affordable low-speed e-scooter from Hero Electric with a removable lithium-ion battery. Despite that, it doesn’t fall short of features. From an LED headlight to a USB charger, there’s everything to make your commute easier. To top that off, it takes four-five hours to charge and has a claimed range of 85kmph. If you can live without the removable battery, there’s a lead-acid-battery variant that comes in at Rs 46,640.

Greaves Ampere Reo Plus: Rs 59,520

If you’re looking for a funkier option, the Greaves Ampere Reo Plus fits the bill perfectly. It comes with features like a charging port, ignition switch, and a removable 48V, 28Ah lithium-ion battery offering a claimed range of up to 60km. The charging time for the Reo Plus is up to six hours. Like the Hero Electric scooter, the Reo Plus is offered in a lead-acid-battery version, too, that is affordable by almost Rs 15,000.

Eeve Ahava: Rs 55,900

The Eeve Ahava was launched earlier this year and is definitely worth a shot, thanks to its long list of features. It gets a twin-LED headlight with LED DRLs, keyless entry, a USB charger, and an anti-theft lock. For braking, Eeve has used a disc brake up front, unlike the Hero Electric and Greaves Ampere electric scooters. This one, too, offers up to 60km range, but the charging time of seven hours is a bit concerning. That said, it comes with a five-year warranty.

BGauss A2: Rs 67,999

If you don’t want to compromise on features or range, the BGauss A2 is the one to go with. It comes with three riding modes, remote locking, anti-theft alarm, and motor locking. At 75km, the range is decent too, and with a charge time of under five hours, it is one of the quickest charging e-scooters right now.  Furthermore, it is also the only one offering superior braking equipment in the form of disc brakes at both ends. For almost Rs 16,000 less, you can opt for the lead-acid variant.

Detel EasyPlus: Rs 41,999

Now, this is the oddball in the group, but it is amongst the most affordable lithium-ion battery-powered e-scooters on sale now. The Detel EasyPlus has a range of 60km and comes with a 2-year/40,000km warranty for the battery. This puny scooter has a load capacity of 170kg, one of the highest in its class.
