Of the three sporty scooters, which one is worth your buck?
Scooters have come a long way from being a mundane mode of transportation. More recently, the 125cc scooter segment has seen a lot of action. If you are on the lookout for a sporty 125cc scooter, the TVS Ntorq 125, Yamaha RayZR 125 and the Aprilia Storm 125 are your best bets. So, which one should you go for? We help you make the decision by comparing the performance numbers.
Acceleration
The RayZR 125 takes the cake here. Thanks to its 99kg kerb weight, the scooter has better power-to-weight ratio than its competitors, making it quicker off the line. The Aprilia Storm, on the other hand, is the slowest, since it lacks the low-end grunt.
Roll-on acceleration
Of the three, the NTorq 125 has better roll-on acceleration, thanks to the strong mid-range punch in the new fuel-injected motor. The Aprilia is last here as well, since it is the heaviest of the lot.
Braking
The Aprilia Storm 125 takes the win here because of the strong bite from the front disc. There’s enough feedback and progression, to help shed speed faster and with confidence. The NTorq too offers strong, progressive bite under hard braking, with the wider tyre profile adding to its advantage.
Fuel Efficiency
RayZR’s easygoing engine and lightweight allows it to be more fuel efficient. NTorq on the other hand has seen slight improvement in the BS6 iteration and also coming to its rescue is the slightly bigger tank than the Yamaha.
The Yamaha RayZR comes on top when it comes to performance, but what about its comfort, features and handling? Find out in our comparison here.
