UM Motorcycles has hiked the prices of the Renegade Commando by 3.14 percent and the Renegade Sport S by 5.36 percent in order to offset the impact of rising input costs

American motorcycle manufacturer UM Motorcycles which sells its motorcycles in India in collaboration with Lohia Auto has increased the prices of its products. The prices of the motorcycles have been hiked because of the rising costs of the raw materials and other parts. The price hike is effective from January 1, 2017.

After the revision of prices, the Renegade Commando is now available at Rs 1.64 lakhs and the Renegade Sport S at Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). They were earlier available for Rs 1.59 lakh and 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively.

The Renegade Commando and Sport S are cruiser motorcycles powered by 280cc engine which produces 25.34PS of maximum power at 8,500rpm and 21.8Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Both the bikes get service alert maintenance as standard fitment, charging socket, have huge 18-litre fuel tanks and weigh 172kg.

Commenting on the price hike, Mr Rajeev Mishra, director, UML, said, “This price revision is on account of increase in the cost of raw material and other cost of operations. We have rationalized the costs, but taken care that the impact is minimal. We also continue finance at attractive interest rates for customers to enter the brand.”

UM Motorcycles joined hands with Lohia Auto to form UM Lohia Two-Wheelers Pvt. Ltd (UML), which entered the Indian market in September 2014. Both the Commando and Sport S are manufactured locally at Lohia Auto’s Kashipur facility in Uttarakhand.
