Six bikes and scooters are being launched this month, and one of them is nothing like we have ever seen before
New month, new two-wheelers. Here’s a quick look at all the bikes and scooters launching June 2024:
Bajaj CNG Bike
The Bajaj CNG bike will be launched on June 18, 2024, and is expected to be priced at about Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom). It could likely be called the Bajaj Fighter, as reported earlier. The CNG bike will be powered by a 125cc sloper engine, with petrol (from a small tank) acting as auxiliary fuel in case it runs out of CNG.
It will be the first CNG bike in India and will be positioned between petrol-powered bikes and electric bikes. CNG is cheaper than petrol and offers more mileage, which will lead to lower running costs. Though it is not available everywhere in the country yet, as the network grows (and it is growing rapidly), it should make it easier for people to buy CNG bikes.
Cheaper Bajaj Chetak
Bajaj will launch a more affordable variant of the Chetak electric scooter in June, as revealed earlier by Rajiv Bajaj, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto. As per spy shots, it will get a new swingarm and a hub motor, whereas the current Chetak gets a mid-mounted motor. This should help Bajaj price it under Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), which will place it in a highly competitive scooter segment. TVS and Ola Electric already have an electric scooter each in this space, so the upcoming affordable Chetak should help Bajaj take on them.
BGauss RUV 350
Not much is known about this electric scooter apart from the fact that its launching on June 3, 2024, and we’ll be riding it soon after. It is likely to be positioned between the base BGauss BG C12i range and the top-end D15.
BMW R 1300 GS
The big daddy BMW R 1300 GS is finally launching in India by mid-June and is expected to be priced between Rs 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom). The R 1300 GS gets a 1300cc boxer twin engine that makes 145PS and 149Nm. It looks completely different from the current GS and is sleeker. It also gets a better suspension and is lighter than before, which should make it even better off the road.
Jitendra Primo S And Primo Plus
Jitendra EV unveiled the Primo S and Primo Plus last month. These will be launched this month and are expected to be priced around Rs 90,000 and just over Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. They will have a 2.04kWh and 3.26kWh battery, respectively, and the claimed range is 82km and 137km. To put that into perspective, the Primo Plus has a claimed range higher than that of the Bajaj Chetak, which is priced from Rs 1.15 lakh to Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
