We compare the 500cc Voge against the equally powerful KTM 390 Duke via a set of detailed images

Voge Brivido 500R vs KTM 390 Duke

Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer Loncin Motors have launched the Voge Brivido 500R in Italy. The new motorcycle offers racy looks and performance on par with other 500cc motorcycles. It does not just compete with the Honda CB500F but also the most popular sub-500 sports naked, the KTM 390 Duke on account of the Duke offering similar levels of performance. We compare both motorcycles with the help of detailed images:

The Voge Brivido 500R features beefy bodywork and looks like a larger 650cc motorcycle. In contrast, the KTM 390 looks athletic with its sharp and minimalistic bodywork.

Both motorcycles get LED headlamps and LED turn indicators. The KTM manages to look more aggressive and premium than the Voge though.

Both the Voge Brivido 500R and KTM 390 Duke get twin LED tail lamps but the Voge's unit looks a bit dated compared to the KTM.

While the Voge Brivido 500R gets a basic looking orange backlit instrument console, the KTM 390 Duke comes with a colour TFT instrument console that gets Bluetooth connectivity.

Both motorcycles have different engine configurations. The Voge gets a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor that dishes out 43.5PS and 40.5Nm. In comparison, the KTM uses a 373.2cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor that delivers 43.5PS and 37Nm. Both motorcycles make the same peak power but the Voge delivers it 500rpm earlier. The Voge also makes 3.5Nm more power. Both motorcycles get a 6-speed gearbox but the KTM comes equipped with a bi-directional quickshifter.

The Brivido 500R may offer more torque but it weighs a hefty 198kg. In comparison, the 390 Duke weighs just 167kg so we expect the KTM to offer better performance.

Both motorcycles sport impressive underpinnings. The Brivido 500R gets 41mm Kayaba upside-down forks and monoshock while the 390 Duke gets 43mm WP upside-down forks and monoshock. For braking, the Voge gets dual 298mm discs with Nissin sliding calipers and a 240mm rear disc. The KTM gets a single 320mm disc with radially mounted ByBre calipers and a 220mm rear disc. Both motorcycles get dual-channel ABS but the KTM gets a switchable Supermoto ABS mode. The Voge gets fatter 120/70-R17 front and 160/60-R17 rear touring-oriented Pirelli Angel GT radial tyres. In comparison, the KTM gets 110/70-R17 front and 150/60-R17 rear Metzeler Sportec M5 radials.

The Voge has an exceptionally tall 860mm seat height than makes the KTM's 623mm seat height feel short in comparison. We would prefer the Voge for touring given its larger 16.5-litre fuel tank that is expected to give better range than the KTM's relatively smaller 13.5-litre fuel tank.

The Voge Brivido 500R is priced at  5,690 euros (approx Rs 4.67 lakh) in Italy. While the Chinese motorcycle is highly unlikely to make it to India, we do get the KTM 390 Duke here. This naked sportsbike is priced at Rs 2,57,906 (ex-showroom Delhi).
