It looks exactly the same as Yamaha’s adventure scooter, but packs a bigger 150cc engine
Chinese brands are known for coming up with two-wheelers that are knock-offs of bikes and scooters from major brands. That said, the adventure scooter segment has been garnering a lot of attention lately. And to cater to that, Sanyou, a Chinese bike manufacturer, has come up with a doppelganger of the Yamaha BW’s 125, but with a bigger engine.
There are almost zero distinguishing factors between the Yamaha BW’s and its Chinese replica. It gets a beefy, muscular body, with bulbous body panels and big twin fascia-mounted headlights. It features a high-rise long front mudguard and a rear mud guard that’s extended downward. Even the taillights, indicators, seat and rear grill are exactly the same. However, it does get a different exhaust design.
Powering the Sanyou scooter is a larger 150cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled engine as compared to BW’s 125cc powertrain. The power and torque figures for the Sanyou are not available.

We don’t have plenty of information on what the Sanyou features, but it does get the exact same digital instrument cluster as the Yamaha BW’s – a big rectangular LCD screen to display speed, fuel gauge, odometer and tachometer. Another smaller LCD screen displays the time. It also gets a front apron fuel filler cap.
In terms of underpinnings, the Sanyou 150’s suspension setup features a telescopic fork and dual shock absorbers. For braking, the scooter comes equipped with disc brakes at both ends and rolls on block-patterned tyres.
The Sanyou 150 is priced at US Dollars 550, an equivalent of Rs 43,000 (without Indian taxes), which is a pretty good deal for a 150cc liquid-cooled engine. But that’s only if you buy the scooter in bulk. The company doesn’t mention anything about buying just a single scooter. For perspective, the Yamaha BW’s 125 comes with a hefty price tag of USD 4,299 (Rs 3.4 lakh). We’re fairly certain that the Sanyou 150 will not be heading to our shores at all, but you can check out the Keeway Vieste 300 maxi-scooter available in India.
