Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone giant, launched a couple of electric scooters last year. And now, it seems to have shifted its focus to even more affordable forms of personal mobility. The Chinese manufacturer has launched two new electric mopeds - the A1 and A1 Pro. These mini mopeds are quite compact but capable thanks to large 16-inch wheels and a hub-mounted electric motor that is rumoured to be a 750 watt unit.

What does that get you? A top speed of 25kmph, which might not seem like much but should help you keep up with fellow cyclists. The A1 gets a 768Wh lithium-ion battery pack that gives it a range of 60km. Its premium sibling, the A1 Pro, packs a larger 960Wh battery, offering it 70km of range. If you run out of range, the pedals allow it to be used as a conventional cycle. The battery packs are removable and can be charged at home.
