Here’s a bunch of two-wheelers ranging from scooters, sportbikes, cruisers to classic motorcycles that you could buy for the price of the FZ-25
The Yamaha FZ-25 was one of the best value for money propositions in the 250cc motorcycles space since it undercut the Suzuki Gixxer 250 by a significant margin. However, the recent price hike due to the BS6 update seems to have narrowed down the gap and raises the question: does the BS6 FZ-25 still make sense? To those of you who aren’t convinced with the idea of splurging on the FZ-25, here’s what else you could get for the same price.
Ather 450X - Rs 1,45,000
Going green is the way forward and the Ather 450X surely delivers on that front. It’s the most sophisticated scooter currently on sale in India, even managing to outdo its petrol-powered rivals. It’s sleek, feature-rich and stupidly fast. Ather has also set up, a solid charging infrastructure in Bengaluru and Chennai.
Yamaha R15 V3 BS6 - Rs 1,46,900
If you’re looking for an affordable sportbike, it doesn’t get any better than the YZF-R15 V3. It’s razor-sharp in corners thanks to the way it’s set up, has an engine which comes with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation), giving it a linear power delivery, and dual-channel ABS as standard. We’d even go as far as saying it’s the best bike for riders looking to hone their skills. However, it does take a certain amount of expertise to get the best out of the bike. Also, the bike's committed riding posture requires you to be as fit as a fiddle.
Classic 350 Single-channel ABS - Rs 1,57,096
We aren’t short of Royal Enfield enthusiasts in India. Heck, they come by the numbers. So you’ll be glad to know that for around Rs 1.57 lakh, you could also fetch the iconic Classic 350 with single-channel ABS. The bike may not be as sophisticated as the rest of the offerings here, but it doesn’t need to be. The Classic’s selling point is its thump and retro styling that has garnered a cult following over the years. Plant it at 60kmph and you have one of the most comfortable rides at hand.
Bajaj Dominar 250 - Rs 1,60,000
There’s only one way to describe the Dominar 250, and that’s value for money. It packs a sophisticated liquid-cooled engine with plenty of grunt, a USD fork, a radial caliper and the best LED headlight in its segment. Dial in the uber comfortable ergonomics and a well-balanced suspension setup and you have a bike that’s hard to resist. Besides, that’s a lot of kit for a whole lot less.
Jawa 42 single-disc - Rs 1,60,300
If you desire more speed with neo-retro styling, the Jawa 42 is the way to go. Not only does the short stroke liquid-cooled engine offer a decent amount of performance, but it’s also quite lightweight which makes it extremely nimble. Also, a low seat height of 765mm is perfect for vertically challenged riders. The bike also manages to keep the essence of the original Jawa.
