Yamaha To Launch Two New Bikes And An Electric Bike This Year

India Yamaha, the 100 per cent subsidiary of Japan based Yamaha Motors corporation Ltd. is targeting new segment in Indian two-wheeler market. Now the company is mulling over to launch an Electric bike in India. The company is already selling electric bikes in Japan and European markets and now it is ready to launch them in India. Meanwhile, the company has decided to launch two new bikes per year  and new variants of existing bikes as well. So in this year, two new Yamaha bikes and one electric bike would be launched.

On the other hand, India Yamaha announced to enter in Scooter segment and now the company to launch a Yamaha Scooter which might be an answer to Honda Activa. This scooter may be Yamaha BWS or Yamaha Fino or Yamaha Neo and is expected in the mid of this year. Meanwhile, Yamaha Electric bike would be a major competitor of Hero Electric and TVS Scooty Teenz which are already popular electric bikes in India.

India Yamaha has a big market share in Indian two-wheeler market and it is the first entry-level sporty bike provider in the domestic market. The popular Yamaha sports bikes are Yamaha R15, Yamaha Fazer, Yamaha R1, Yamaha FZ & Yamaha FZ16, Yamaha SZ, Yamaha G5, Yamaha Gladiator, Yamaha SS 125 and Yamaha YBR. Meanwhile Yamaha VMAX is the biggest beast from its stable.

The fastest growing company targeted 10 per cent stake in the two-wheeler market in the next 3 to 4 years. India Yamaha is doing well in Indian market and sold 3.7 lakh units last year including exports of 1.2 lakh units. And it has targeted to get 40-50 per cent more growth than last year. At present, the company has two manufacturing plants in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and their production capacity is 6 lakh units a year. But now it wants to grow this capacity with 10 lakh units per year in the upcoming years.
