Yamaha has unveiled a new sport tourer called the FJ- 09 at the 2014 EICMA show. Based on the FZ platform, this three cylinder budget tourer will hit global market starting December.
The engine on this tourer is based on the FZ -09’s 847cc Triple with a 113 bhp and 87.4 Nm of torque. The FJ -09 comes with adjustable seats, handlebars and windscreen making it adaptable for riders of all sizes! Besides this, Yamaha has developed three riding modes specially to suit the FJ -09’s characteristics and it comes with a switchable traction control system.
Since the FJ -09 is based on the FZ platform it has the same diecast aluminium frame which is low weight and offers responsive handling. The suspension is also the same as on the FZ -09 with the front fork offering a 5.4 inch travel and the rear monoshock offering a 5.1 inch travel. Both front and rear suspensions have adjustable preload and rebound damping.
The other features on the FJ – 09 are anti-lock brakes, centre stand, touring specific tyres, a 12V electric outlet, luggage mounts and an 18 litre fuel tank which is perfect for long touring distances.
Yamaha will offer the FJ-09 in the following colours – matt grey, candy red, lava red and race blue.
We can’t yet be sure if Yamaha will bring this tourer to the Indian market, but given that most of its competitors have at least one touring motorcycle available in India, they may give it a thought.
