Royal Enfield Rider Mania is an enticement for the Enfield riders across the country and they participate wholeheartedly in this annual G2G which is hosted in the party capital of India, Goa. This is one of the most awaited events for all the thumpers and what makes it more special is the spirit of brotherhood that these riders share. In simple words, Rider Mania is a kind of convention which celebrates the ethos of motorcycling.
The three-day spectacular event experiences a gathering of about 5000 riders from across the country. The last year’s event was held from November 21-23, 2014. This time, the event will start on November 20. Each rider out there is full of brotherhood spirit, and enjoys a lot of live music, games and off-course parties. Meeting new riders from around the country, knowing their languages, sharing the common passion for riding is what makes this event an ultimate event for the Enfield Community.
It is perhaps the only event in India in which people in such large multitudes celebrate the spirit of motorcycling through arts, music, photography, etc. with some fun events and trails over large grounds. This is a perfect platform for the riders to showcase their passion and enthusiasm for riding and the Royal Enfield brand. There are trials, dirt track racing, assembly wars and various other riding events performed and there are competitions held to recognize the best custom bike of that year.
Team “Ride till I die” has been closely associated with Royal Enfield. Their director Pratish Ambekar shared his experience of mania 2014. He rode down from Mumbai to participate in the extravaganza. While entering Goa the feel was entirely different, every street, lane & by-lane, a Royal Enfield was ensuring its presence. Vagator was the focal point for their gathering where all the riders met.
Slowly and gradually seeing the event turning into a big fat party is the most spectacular thing to watch. The thumping music, beer stalls, and the custom bikes at the display set the party mode on. A barren land suddenly started sprouting with riders and Royal Enfield enthusiasts in a friendly environment. Day 2 perpetually saw more Enfield riders everywhere - inside the venue, outside the venue, on the roads and in the restaurants, everywhere till your eyes could see there were only Enfield riders on the ground.
The custom section is the most sought after, for the obvious reasons. Raju from R&G Custom brought in Road Angel and Destiny Angel which was widely appreciated. Unfortunately, they couldn’t win the segment but they still kept their spirits high. The winner for the best custom bike was the Gunner 540 and the Most Popular Custom Bike trophy was bagged by Squadrons from Road Rage Customs.
Another fun event was - carry your bike event in which the bikers carried Enfield Electra which is much lighter than other models and run to the finishing line. A group of enthusiasts ‘The Road Shakers’ was seen participating in all the events in the right sportsmen spirit.
Workshops are also a part of the event wherein the riders spoke about their experiences. An eminent speaker of this workshop is Jonathon Gibson who rode down from Sydney to London on a 1969 Royal Enfield. According to him, Rider Mania is a great place to see unity and the enthusiasm of the Royal Enfield family and such events helps to strengthen the bond and helps to promote motorcycling culture around the globe. This platform allows the riders to share their experiences and encourages others to do so well.
It is the only biker’s fest in which the riders can take along their family members and celebrate with them the true spirit of motorcycling. The families understood the motorcycling communities and interacted with them. Kids were also a part of the event and there were many women riders who were spotted with their husbands. They all were seen as a big family at large and after the event they were seen to depart with the ever enthusiastic passion and the new bonds made.
Special sections of photography and trails are also a part of the festival. There were enclosures displaying the special apparels and the latest trends and fashions. The third day was all about the award ceremonies and the music band wars. The foot tapping music by Papon and the East India Company, Nucleya and Vir das Alien Chutney and Skrate set the mood.
