RC 125 Expert Review
Overview
The KTM RC 125 is the smallest capacity supersport offering from the Austrian bikemaker. The RC 125 is a 125cc motorcycle but it doesn’t look any different from its larger siblings, the KTM RC 390 and RC 200. Here's how it performs in the real world:
Design
The KTM RC 125 comes with a supersport design that is in line with what we have seen on the KTM RC 390 and RC 200. At the front, the bike features an LED headlight and DRL setup combined with boomerang shaped indicators that are integrated into the fairing. On the side, it features sharp styling and overall has that big bike look and feel.
The best thing is that if you wanted the bigger RC motorcycles, but were on a tight budget, then at least in terms of looks, the RC 125 gives you that feel.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
Powering the KTM RC 125 is a 125cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 14.2PS and 12Nm. The engine is true to the KTM nature and likes to be revved out, it is also well refined going by KTM standards. The motor is one of the most potent ones in the 125cc segment, offering ample performance. The 2nd generation update has brought some changes to the airbox and radiator and now the bike is able to provide more torque when compared to the first gen RC 125.
Handling & Ride Quality
The RC 125 is an aggressive supersport and the bike’s overall design and build is meant to maximize that character. The bike is quite agile and nimble, which means it handles really well, but most importantly it loves to hit the corners.
The 43mm WP Apex fork at the front and 10-step preload-adjustable monoshock are able to absorb most bumps and potholes without much trouble but the supersport nature of the bike can make riding over bad roads an uncomfortable experience. Even then the monoshock offers a great degree of adjustability and allows the rider to change the suspension’s nature according to their liking. With firmer settings being ideal for track and a softer one for the roads.
Comfort
When compared to the previous version, the current RC 125 is a bit more road oriented and this has toned down the level of aggressiveness that was present earlier, making the riding posture a bit upright and comfortable. The seat is also well cushioned and doesn’t come off as either too hard or too soft, making it ideal for both short commutes and long trips.
Features
The RC 125 has an LCD instrument console similar to the RC 200. It gives useful information and readouts such as speed, tachometer readings, fuel levels, trip details along with real time readouts like average mileage and distance to empty. The instrument console is quite basic but does provide good visibility under all lighting conditions.
Should you buy
The RC 125 is currently the only 125cc supersport offering in India, it has aggressive styling and look that one would associate with larger capacity bikes. The performance is not that great but it will make for a good beginner bike that riders can hone their skills on.

- KTM RC 125 is only for the younger generation
KTM RC 125 is giving a lot of issues and a very rough running sound is produced. It is very good looking bike. Its fuel cost is quite high. So most of the people especially those from the middle class have not purchased the bike. It’s not possible to ride this bike in muddy water in a village. It can carry only two persons. This bike is only for the younger generation in contemporary society.Read More

- Elegant design and sporty appearance
KTM RC 125 is an astonishing bike which provides lots of joy in riding. I have been using this bike for few months now and I must say I am impressed. The first thing that I was fascinated with was the elegant design and sporty appearance of the bike. The 125cc engine is like a tiger that roars with great acceleration and top speed ideal for commuting and long driving. The seat as well is nice and offers good comfort for long rides, thus, there is a limit to the distance one can ride using the bike.Read More
