The year 2015 is coming to an end. This year has been a mix-bag for the Indian two-wheeler industry. There have been a lot of new launches in the market in almost every segment. Honda was successful to stay in news throughout the year by bringing 15 new products (as promised) and finished with the final launch of Hornet 160. Yamaha, Hero, Bajaj were also not left behind and launched their most awaited bikes like the R3, Pulsar RS and AS series, CB Shine etc.
All other concepts which are still in the development phase are expected to be rolled out from the plants in 2016. And we believe 2016 will be a more exciting year as there is a lot wrapped under the sleeves of auto companies which will start unfolding right from January. Let's have a look at the bikes which are scheduled to launch in 2016
The much anticipated TVS Apache powered with a 200cc engine is finally making it to the Indian shores at the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo. Besides a 200cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected motor, the bike will come equipped with numerous other features such as ABS, under seat mobile charger, integrated racing speedo console, side stand indicator and much more. The RTR 200 is expected to come at a price of somewhere around Rs. 1 lac. If reports are to be believed, an updated RTR 180 is also on cards that will mark its arrival alongside RTR 200.
2. Hero MotoCorp HX250R:
The long awaited quarter-litre performance motorcycle from Hero, whose launch was further delayed due to EBR’s bankruptcy is hopefully launching next year. The bike will be powered by a 250cc, liquid-cooled engine and would be equipped with some impressive features like a clip-on handlebar, sharp dual headlamp section, fully digital console and dual disc brakes with ABS.
3. UM Renegade Commando:
UM Motorcycles will make its Indian debut with the launch of two variants of Renegade Commando at the upcoming Auto Expo. The bike is powered by a 300cc, single-cylinder engine that makes power up to 24bhp. USB charging ports and rear view mirrors with blind spot have been integrated inside the bike to add up to convenience and safety. It is expected to be launched at a price of Rs. 1.6 lac and will compete with the likes of Royal Enfield.
4. Yamaha MT-03:
The naked version of Yamaha R3 will be displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo and the launch will take place in mid-2016. Like R3, the bike has been built on the same platform except for the front fairing and a revised steering geometry. Yamaha MT-03 is powered by the same 321cc, liquid-cooled, the parallel-twin engine that does the same duty on its faired version. The bike is expected to be priced under Rs. 3 lac and will lock horns with KTM 390 Duke, Benelli TNT 300 and Kawasaki Z250.
5. Hyosung GT 300R:
Recently, an official at DSK confirmed the India launch of GT 300R, and this launch is scheduled around May-June in the coming year. With sharper looks and styling than the existing GT 250R, the bike will come powered by a 275cc, 75-degree V-twin engine that generates 27.6bhp of power and 23Nm of torque. Besides, a dual channel standard ABS has also been equipped for better braking and safety.
6. TVS-BMW G 310R:
The TVS-BMW joint venture resulted in the creation of recently unveiled G 310R. The naked streetfighter comes powered by a 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill that develops 34bhp of power. As for features, the machine has been equipped with inverted forks up front and a two-channel Anti-Lock Braking System that enhances its value. The bike is expected to be displayed at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo and could be launched soon after that.
7. Mahindra Mojo ABS:
The five-year-long wait came to an end when Mahindra finally launched the 300cc Mojo in the country in October this year. Now, the company is working on its ABS version that is expected to make its arrival in the early 2016 and it was spotted few days back. The new updated version of the bike will be launched with a marginal rise in price in comparison to the existing model that is currently being sold at Rs. 1.63 lac.
8. Benelli Tornado 302:
The fully-faired 300cc motorcycle will be hitting Indian shores in mid-2016, as per reports. The machine was recently showcased at the 73rd EICMA and comes powered by a 300cc, 4-stroke, inline twin cylinder, liquid cooled engine that is linked to a 6-speed transmission. The bike is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs. 3.5 lac and will directly rival against the Yamaha R3.
9. 2016 KTM RC 390:
The popular 373cc machine from KTM will soon see some more race-ready features in its recent updates such as ride-by-wire technology and slipper clutch. Besides, a new aluminum exhaust has been used instead of the underbelly one that comes in the existing version. We expect the bike will be launched at the 2016 Auto Expo with a slightly higher price than the current model.
10. Bajaj Pulsar CS 400:
One of the best-looking motorcycles from the Pulsar family is all set to be launched in India by April 2016. The middleweight cruiser will be powered by a 373.2cc, liquid-cooled engine that pumps out 40bhp of power and 32Nm of torque. The bike looks somewhat inspired from Ducati Diavel and comes with a futuristic LED headlamp and sharp design philosophy. The CS 400 is expected to be priced under Rs. 2 lac for the Indian market.
