The Roadmaster Elite comes with a raft of features that can make even your family sedan blush

Indian Motorcycle has launched the 2018 Roadmaster Elite, the cream of its lineup, at a price tag of Rs 48 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point this ultra-premium machine will only be within reach of those with deep pockets. This exclusive motorcycle is available in a hand-finished, blue-black dual tone paint job, which according to the company takes a strenuous 30 hours to complete. Adding to the exclusivity and premium look of the bike are 23K gold leaf badgings on either side of the tank and lowers. 300 units of the motorcycle will be made available worldwide with only one allocated for India, which is already sold out. However, Indian says another unit is slated to arrive at our shores.

As you’d expect from this luxury barge on two wheels, the Roadmaster Elite comes with a raft of features that can make even your family sedan blush. Take for instance, the in-built 7-inch touchscreen infotainment setup with 300W audio system, cruise control and navigation, remote locking/unlocking of saddlebags and top box (waterproof), and the heated grips and seats. Then there’s the electronically adjustable windscreen, adjustable passenger floorboards, LED lightning from end to end (same as the standard version) and keyless ignition.

Despite having to manage all these features, the switchgear has been cleaned up a lot compared to its predecessor, making it simple to use and enhancing the overall user experience. With 140-plus litres of storage space and a 20.8-litre fuel tank, the Elite offers more than enough for those long-distance tours.

Speaking of long-distance tours, powering the Roadmaster is the same legendary Thunder Stroke 111 V-Twin engine (1,811cc) as seen on the standard variant, producing a maximum torque of 150Nm at 3,000rpm. Suspensions duties are handled by 46mm telescopic forks at the front and a single air-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Anchoring the luxury cruiser are twin 300mm floating discs with 4-piston calipers at the front and a single 300mm disc with twin-piston caliper at the rear, with the safety net of ABS.

Polaris will bring this uber-premium motorcycle to India as a CBU, pitting it against its only rival, the Harley-Davidson CVO Limited, which retails for Rs 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
