We have received a media invite from Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, just after the EICMA 2024. While the invite doesn’t reveal much of what it is about, its electric theme and usage of words like ‘Watts Ahead’ makes us think that the Japanese manufacturer is all set to reveal the Activa electric scooter in India.
The upcoming Honda Activa Electric scooter is likely to be based on the Honda CUV e scooter, which was showcased at the EICMA 2024. It comes with a simple and minimalistic design yet looks futuristic at the same time. It gets smooth and sculpted body panels. Honda claims that it is equivalent to a 110cc petrol-powered scooter.
The CUV e scooter comes in 3 different colours: Pearl Jubilee White, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Premium Silver Metallic.
What the Honda Activa Electric Can Get
As the Honda Activa electric can be based on the CUV e scooter. Here’s what the CUV e gets:
- A mid-mounted electric motor producing 6kW
- Two removable 1.3kWh batteries
- 70km claimed range on a single charge
- 80kmph top speed
- Charges in 3 hours from 0 to 75 percent
- Charges from 0 to 100 percent in 6 hours using a standard charger
The CUV e is available with two different sized instrument console options: The standard variant features a 5-inch instrument console, but misses out on smartphone connectivity. The higher Honda RoadSync Duo variant features a 7-inch TFT instrument console with Smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth for navigation, call/SMS alerts and music controls.
The Honda electric scooter has a fob key, all LED lights, a USB-C charging port, a front glovebox. It also has three riding modes: Standard, Sport, and Econ. Like other electric scooters, it also features a reverse mode.
The Honda CUV e uses a telescopic fork and twin rear shock absorbers. In terms of brakes, it has a 190mm front disc and a 110mm rear drum brake. The electric scooter has 12-inch alloy wheels on both ends. It has a 1,310mm wheelbase, 765mm seat height and a 270mm ground clearance.
Honda Activa Electric Expected Price and Launch Date
The Honda Activa Electric is expected to be priced between Rs 1 lakh to 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, including subsidy). It is likely to be launched sometime around March 2025. It will compete with other premium electric scooters like TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Hero Vida V1 Pro, Ola S1 Air and the Bajaj Chetak.
