The sporty Yamaha scooter receives a cosmetic update
Yamaha has unveiled the updated version of the Aerox 155 in Thailand. The Aerox 155 can be best defined as the sportier version of the Yamaha NMax 155 maxi-scooter and it’s based on the same platform. The 2021 Aerox 155 has been priced at 78,500 baht (Rs 1.90 lakh).
As part of the 2021 update, the Yamaha scooter receives a more aggressive fascia with sharper LED headlight and flared LED DRLs. The indicator has been neatly integrated into the fairing and it’s a conventional bulb unit. Yamaha designers have also redesigned the tail section with a slim LED tail light that looks premium. It also receives an all-new LCD instrument console, and from the image attached you can see it receives call and message alerts as well. Also checkout - Suzuki Hayabusa - New vs Old
No changes have been on the mechanical front. The Yamaha Aerox 155 continues to be powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor producing 15.4PS and 13.8Nm. It’s the same engine as seen on the Yamaha R15 V3.0 but features a CVT transmission instead of a 6-speed unit. Underpinning have also remained untouched, and the scooter runs on 14-inch alloy wheels. However, fuel tank capacity has been increased from 4.6 to 5.5 litres. Interested in the Yamaha R15? Read our real-world road test report.
Talking about features, the 2021 Aerox 155 has a generous 25 litres of underseat storage, USB mobile charger and smart key. Will Yamaha launch the Aerox 155 in India? We feel there’s very little possibility of that happening as it will be priced at a premium. However, we are still hopeful that it launches the NMax 155 in India and enters the premium scooter segment.
