The RE Scram now gets alloy wheels and tubeless tyres!

Quick News Highlights:

  • RE Scram 440 launched as the successor to the Scram 411

  • Gets a bigger, more powerful 443cc engine

  • Has features like an LED headlight and a new instrument cluster

Royal Enfield has launched the Scram 440 in India at a starting price of Rs 2.08 lakh, going up to Rs 2,15,000 (ex-showroom). It is the successor to the now discontinued Scram 411, and it has a bigger capacity engine, more features and refreshed colours.

Design

The design and overall styling of the Scram 440 remains the same as the Scram 411, which was essentially a stripped down Himalayan 411 without the front crash guard, and a single-piece seat instead of the split setup. It now gets a total of five new colour options: Trail Blue, Trail Green, Force Blue, Force Grey, and Force Teal.

Engine

The Scram 440 gets a new 443cc air-and-oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 25.4PS and 34Nm. The figures are 1.1PS and 2Nm more than the older 411cc engine. The bike also now gets a six-speed gearbox and a 14 tooth front sprocket, as compared to the five-speed transmission and 15 tooth sprocket on the Scram 411. Royal Enfield claims these changes help the bike have more low end torque, better highway cruising capability, and reduced vibrations.

Features

It now gets the LED headlight from all the other new Royal Enfield bikes like the Himalayan 450, Guerilla, Classic 350, and more. The instrument console has also been updated with the one from the Hunter 350. Additionally, the Tripper navigation pod is available as an optional accessory. It also gets switchable on/off ABS for the rear wheel.

Variants

There are two variants of the Scram 440 on offer: Trail and Force. The Trail gets spoke wheels with tube tyres, and the Force variant features alloy wheels with tubeless tyres.

BikeDekho Says:

Royal Enfield’s Scram platform received a much needed upgrade to the powertrain, now with a bigger capacity engine and the addition of the sixth gear. The revised gearing along with the addition of the sixth gear and a bigger front sprocket promises better acceleration and a higher top speed. The top-spec Force variant also adds the convenience of tubeless tyres with the alloy wheels. These updates make the Scram a better tourer and an overall better bike on paper as compared to the Scram 411. We will only get to know the reality once we ride and test the bike.
