The e-scooter will be developed in collaboration with Taiwanese scooter giant Kymco Motors
- Will be based on Kymco’s Ionex platform.
- The teaser also suggests a slew of other electric two-wheelers to be launched under this venture.
- Expect an ex-showroom price of around Rs 85,000.
Back in October 2018, Gurugram-based startup 22Motors joined hands with Taiwanese electric giant Kymco Motors to develop a slew of electric offerings. Now, as per the company’s teaser, we will soon be seeing the first products to be launched under this banner, although it is unclear exactly when.

So what could the first product be? If we had to guess, this will likely be the updated 22Motors Flow which was initially launched back at the 2018 Auto Expo. However, this time around, the e-scooter will be underpinned by Kymco’s Ionex platform, which allows easy swapping of batteries. This will make it the only electric two-wheeler in India to come with swappable batteries, apart from the Okinawa Praise. But unlike the Praise, the Flow will come equipped with two battery packs instead of just one.

The Flow’s new Ionex platform’s party trick is that one of its two battery packs is removable. It weighs just 5kg and can be recharged fully in just an hour. Internationally, Kymco has also established a network of charging stations. Through this, owners can simply ride into a station, swap the battery pack and be on their way. If we had to guess, this should take almost the same amount of time as you’d spend at a petrol station.
For its India plans, Praveen Kharb, CEO, 22Motors, confirmed that the company will start the development of charging infrastructure first in Delhi. The aim here will be to have a charging point at every kilometre. Kharb also added that the Ionex battery booths will be placed in all strategic areas of the city.

Coming back to the 22Motors Flow, the e-scooter was launched with a price tag of Rs 74,740 (ex-showroom) and boasted a host of features such as hill assist control, reverse mode, park assist and more. Although, we’re yet to see one in flesh, considering the company hasn't actually started selling them yet.
As per the company, the e-scooter is also capable of reaching speeds up to 60kmph, with a claimed range of 160km (with the dual battery pack). The Flow is also pretty lightweight at 85kg. Now, with the added benefits of Ionex technology, we can only imagine the 22Motors Flow to be a better package than before, and capable enough to go toe to toe against Ather’s offerings (340/450).
Expect a premium of around Rs 10,000 over its initial asking price, bringing the ex-showroom price tag to around Rs 85,000. We will be riding the e-scooter soon, so to know our initial impressions and all the updates related to launch, stay tuned to BikeDekho.
