- The Ampere Magnus 60 with the lead-acid battery was launched at a price of Rs 44,699.
- The lithium-ion battery Magnus Pro is available at Rs 73,990.
- Ampere’s current portfolio comprises five scooters.
Ampere Electric Vehicles has pulled the plus on the lead-acid variant of the Magnus 60 which was priced at Rs 44,699 (ex-showroom Bengaluru). Its sudden departure could be attributed to low sales volumes and the introduction of the lithium-ion battery version, the Magnus Pro, which retails at Rs 73,990.
The lead-acid variant of the Magnus 60 offered a claimed range of 45-50km on a single charge and took about 8-10 hours for a full charge. Its top speed was capped at 25kmph. The culling of the Magnus 60 means Ampere now offers only five scooters in India: Magnus Pro, Reo, Reo Elite, Zeal and the V48.
The scooter that takes its place is the Magnus Pro which packs a removable lithium-ion battery pack. It benefits from a 60V/30Ah battery pack that can deliver a range of up to 70-80km on a full charge. The unit cuts down its charge time to 5-6 hours. The Pro variant is also slightly faster and tops out at 55kmph.
In terms of features, the Pro variant comes with LED DRLs, a full-digital instrument console, a USB charger, keyless entry, an anti-theft alarm system, and an LED light in the boot. The Ampere Magnus Pro comes with a telescopic fork and a twin shock absorber setup at the rear. Ampere offers three years of warranty or 20,000kms (whichever is earlier) on the motor, controller, charger and DC to DC converter. It also comes with the option of an additional two years of warranty.
