Deliveries for the first lot have been pushed to the end of the year
In yet another setback for the Ola Electric S1, the company has announced that the deliveries for the first lot of customers have been pushed by three to five weeks. Ola has even pushed its second purchase window from December 16 to late January 2022. The startup has cited the shortage of chipsets and electronic parts, including lithium-ion cells for this delay.
The customers who paid the Rs 20,000 booking amount have received an email from the company stating the delay in the delivery. Ola had planned to commence deliveries from November 25, and with the latest developments, it is unlikely to happen until the end of this year.

Ola Electric had announced massive sales and charging infrastructure expansion plans, however, it has been constantly facing setbacks. Sales of the scooter were originally supposed to commence on September 8, but then got postponed to September 15. More recently, the company postponed its November 1 sales window to December 16, and now it has been further delayed to late January.
Ola Electric even announced its ambitious charging network-- called the Hypernetwork, with a promise of setting up 1 lakh charging stations across 400 cities in India. Moreover, it aims to expand across 100 cities with 5,000 chargers in the first year itself. However, till date, the company has set up its only charging station in Bengaluru.
The constant delays are disheartening, especially after the e-scooter garnered over 1,00,000 pre-bookings within 24 hours, but is yet to commence deliveries.
