The maxi-scooter will go on sale in India next month
As we inch closer to the launch of the Aprilia SXR 160, the Italian brand has announced that production for the first batch of scooters will soon commence at its Baramati facility in Maharashtra. The Aprilia SXR 160 was slated to launch post its reveal at Auto Expo 2020, however, it got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the first maxi-scooter offering from Aprilia but the Italian manufacturer calls it a cross-maxi. The SXR 160 will debut in India by the end of December 2020 with a possible price tag of around Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).

The upcoming scooter gets a maxi-scooter inspired styling that is very European. It features a split LED headlight as seen on the Aprilia performance bikes. It is powered by the same 160cc motor as the Aprilia SR 160, producing 11PS and 11.2Nm. The SXR 160 runs on 12-inch wheels on both ends which should improve the ride quality. It should hopefully have a larger underseat storage space compared to its sibling. It features a disc brake at the front and comes with a single-channel ABS.
