Bajaj Auto is in the final stages of testing the Avenger 220 with ABS. The Chakan-based manufacturer is expected to introduce the new Avenger 220 ABS in January 2019. The Avenger Street 220 and the Cruise 220 will feature a single-channel ABS as seen on the Pulsar NS 200 and Pulsar RS 200. Currently the Bajaj Avenger is priced at Rs 96,922 (ex-showroom Delhi) and the addition of ABS is likely to command a premium of around Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000. All new two-wheelers above 125cc displacement will be required to be equipped with ABS from April 1 onwards.Apart from the addition of ABS, we do not expect any changes to be made on the cosmetic or mechanical front. Powering the Avenger 220 duo is a 220cc, single-cylinder motor that produces 19PS and 17.5Nm of peak torque. Components like the suspension, chassis and braking hardware (apart from the inclusion of single-channel ABS) will be similar to the existing bike. Apart from the launch of the Avenger 220 ABS, Bajaj also has plans to introduce the 2019 Dominar 400 with USD fork next month.
