There have been no updates to justify the price hike
In January 2021, Bajaj hiked the prices of most of its petrol-powered two-wheelers. Now, the company has upped the prices of the Chetak e-scooter by a massive Rs 15,000. Check out the latest prices below:
At Rs 15,000, the price hike is pretty steep, especially because there has been no update to justify the same. That said, even at this price, the no-frills Chetak undercuts its closest rival, the tech-loaded Ather 450X, by almost Rs 27,500.
The abrupt hike in prices might dent sales, particularly with availability limited to Pune and Bangalore for now. With skyrocketing fuel prices forcing customers to go electric, we hope Bajaj introduces the scooter to more cities soon.
- Ola has revealed its e-scooter, and here’s everything you can expect from it.
- CFMoto is also looking to step into the EV world, and here’s all the exclusive dirt on that.
For the price, the Chetak features full-LED lighting, neo-retro design, digital instrumentation, and smartphone connectivity. Powering the e-scooter is a 4kW and 16Nm motor paired with a 3kWh Li-ion battery. We had taken the Chetak for a spin, and it did impress us. Read our test ride review for all deets.
The scooter goes up against the TVS iCube Electric and the Ather 450X. The latter has set a benchmark for e-scooters in India. Curious to know why? Read our first ride review of the 450X to find out.
