Quick Highlights

  • Bajaj Auto has launched the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike in Delhi

  • Kerala is next on the list to get the CNG bike

  • Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike price starts from Rs 94,995 (ex-showroom Delhi)

After the launch of the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike, the world’s first CNG-powered bike, Bajaj Auto received over 30,000 inquiries regarding the bike within the first week from all over India. While initially the bike was launched only in Maharashtra and Gujarat, the company has now introduced the CNG bike across dealerships in Delhi, India.

What makes the Bajaj Freedom 125 stand out is the fact that it is a CNG bike and is powered by a 125cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 9.5PS and 9.7Nm. The company claims this will cut fuel expenses by 50 per cent. The bike is available in three variants:

NG04 Drum LED

With Delhi ticked off the list, the company’s next target is to introduce the bike in Kerala. Earlier, Bajaj also announced that they will make the Freedom 125 CNG bike available in 77 Indian cities by August 15, 2024, India’s 77th Independence Day. To tackle this increasing demand for the bike, Bajaj has planned to upscale the manufacturing of the Freedom 125 CNG bike from 10,000 units to 40,000 units.

While Bajaj Auto offers a wide range of two-wheelers, this one is unique. It is equipped with a 2 kg CNG tank and also has a 2-litre reserve petrol tank. The bike offers a total claimed mileage of 330km, that is 200km in CNG mode and around 130km in petrol mode. In our real-world experience, the bike delivered around 85km/kg from CNG and about 56kmpl on petrol in mixed riding conditions, with a total range of around 280km. The bike features a first-in-category, mono-linked type suspension, a long-quilted seat, LED headlamps, a digital speedometer and Bluetooth connectivity.
