Bajaj To Offer Connected Features

Bajaj will soon be following TVS’ footsteps in the tech race. The brand has filed a patent application for the name ‘Neuron’. Neurons or nerve cells are fundamentally responsible for relaying electrical signals from the brain to the muscles. This suggests that Bajaj could soon introduce smart connected features on its two-wheelers. Though there are possibilities of it being a new motorcycle, there are higher chances of the product being smartphone-compatible consoles, purely because of its name.

Which Models May Benefit?

We believe the Dominar range will be the first to be launched with Bajaj’s connected features. This could be followed up by the Pulsar range (may get full-digital consoles) and eventually the Chetak. While the Chetak is a feature-rich scooter, it misses out on a few crucial connected features which could put it in a better position to compete with the Ather 450X and the iQube.

Our Wishlist

Smartphone-compatible digital consoles could open up a world of possibilities for Bajaj. We could expect features like turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, ride statistics, and perhaps even real-time and average mileage (available on Dominar 400) to be displayed on the consoles as well as your smartphone. Bajaj could even integrate its service app which would make things a whole lot simpler. You could keep a tab on your bike's health, check its service due date, and book a service appointment seamlessly through the app. An OTA update-enabled console would be the cherry on the cake!

Price Hike?

Considering the possible feature list and integration costs, we expect Bajaj to charge a premium of around Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 over the ex-showroom price of its products.
