Benelli TRK 502 And TRK 502 X Launched In India

The TRK costs Rs 5 lakh while the off-road-centric TRK 502X is priced at Rs 5.4 lakh (ex-showroom)

Benelli India has launched the TRK 502 range in the country. The Italian brand has priced the TRK 502 at Rs 5 lakh while the TRK 502 X costs Rs 5.40 lakh, ex-showroom, pan-India. While the former is more of a soft roader, the latter is biased towards off-road riding. Bookings for the two motorcycles are open for a token amount of Rs 10,000. Everyone who have booked can avail a gift voucher worth Rs 10,000 which can be used for the purchase of accessories and apparel at the time of delivery. The prices are introductory and are only valid for customers who've booked the bike online. Deliveries will commence in 60 days. Both the bikes feature generously sized bodywork which makes them look in line with litre-class adventurer tourers. 

The twin halogen headlamps are complemented by LED DRLs, indicators and tail lamp. The multifunction analogue-digital instrument cluster displays all the important details for the rider. There’s a USB charging port to charge your electronic devices too. Thanks to the large 20-litre fuel tank, the bikes are capable of traversing long distances without stopping for a tank-up.

Powering the two motorcycles is a 500cc, fuel-injected, parallel-twin motor which produces 47.5PS of power at 8500rpm and 46Nm of peak torque at 6000rpm. The powerplant is mated to a 6-speed transmission linked to a chain drive. Underpinnings include 50mm inverted front forks up front (not adjustable) and a rear monoshock with preload and rebound adjustability. Braking responsibility is handled by 320mm twin discs with radial calipers at the front and a 260mm disc at the rear, with switchable ABS (only at the rear).

While the TRK 502 is shod with 17-inch alloys (with Pirelli Angel GT) on both ends, the TRK 502 X gets a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear spoke wheel for better terrain taming. The X variant also rolls on Metzeler Tourance dual-purpose tyres for better grip off the road. Even its exhaust is routed conventionally and is properly high-set for better water-wading capabilities. At 235kg kerb, the motorcycles are quite heavy for their class. However, the seat is quite accessible, at 800mm for the 502. On the other hand, the X version is a bit tall at 840mm.

In the Indian market, the TRK 502 range doesn’t exactly have any direct rivals, but the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 comes close. The motorcycle, in fact, lies in the middle ground between smaller ADVs like the Versys-X 300 and larger ones like Kawasaki Versys 650 and Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT.
