The 35 Series is available in three variants
Bajaj has launched the all new Chetak 35 Series which will be the new top-variant in the Chetak lineup. The scooter is available in two variants: 3501 and 3502. Let’s have a look at what all has been changed in the 35 Series.
Design
The new Bajaj Chetak 35 series carries the same design as the other variants of the Chetak. It gets the same horseshoe-shaped LED DRL at the front, a retro-style design with chrome elements, and a swooping tail section. The 35 Series gets an 80mm longer and quilted seat compared to the other variants, and a larger floorboard which increases the knee room. The scooter is available in five colour options: Brooklyn Black, Pista Green, Hazel Nut, Indigo Metallic Blue and Matte Red
Battery, Charging and Underpinnings
The 35 Series gets a brand new 3.5kWh battery which is the biggest a Chetak has ever received. The bigger battery is now located underneath the floorboard due to a new frame which also gives it a larger underseat storage of 35-litres.
The 3.5kWh battery provides a claimed range of 153km on a full charge, and Bajaj claims that the scooter will provide a real world range of 120-125km which should be enough for most people. The 950W onboard charger can charge the battery from 0-80 percent in just 3 hours, but is available only on the top-end 3501 variant. The 3502 gets an external charger which charges the scooter from 0-80 percent in 3 hours 25 minutes. The new battery pack is paired with a brand-new motor which propels the scooter to a claimed top-speed of 73kmph. Bajaj has not revealed the exact power figures yet. The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels on both ends and gets a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
Features
The Bajaj Chetak 35 Series is quite feature-rich. The top-end 3501 variant gets a brand-new TFT display which is touch enabled. It gets map navigation, limited smart-phone connectivity, key fob and a single riding mode: Eco as standard. To enable additional features, one has to purchase the Tec Pac which adds an additional riding mode: Sports, gives more features such as full smartphone connectivity which includes, geo-fencing, sequential blinkers, guide me home lights, trip and data analytics and over-speed alert with speed limit settings.
The 3502 variant too gets a TFT display but is not touch enabled and has turn-by-turn navigation. This variant misses out on the key fob and gets a mechanical key instead with a single ride mode which is Eco. The Tec Pac enables additional features which are the same as the 3501 variant minus the sequential indicators and on-board document storage facility.
Price and Rivals
The Bajaj Chetak 35 Series is the top-end series in the Chetak lineup of electric scooters. The Chetak 3501 is priced for Rs 1,27,243 while the 3502 is for Rs 1,20,000 (both prices ex-showroom, Bangalore). Bajaj has not revealed the price of the Tec Pac for the two variants. The new Chetak 35 Series goes against the likes of Vida V2, Ather Rizta, Ola S1 Pro and the TVS iQube in India.
