The electric scooter manufacturer is making big claims with its latest offering
BGauss has launched its fourth electric scooter offering, the C12i Max, priced at Rs 1,04,999 (ex-showroom, excluding FAME 2 and state subsidies). However, the EV maker is offering an introductory discount on it, bringing down the ex-showroom price to Rs 97,999 (introductory offer, valid till stocks last).
With the C12i Max, BGauss has made quite a few bold claims. So here’s what you need to know:
Starting with aesthetics, the C12i Max looks quite conventional, with its flat seat, upright seating stance, and especially its pressed steel wheels and drum brakes giving it an almost retro look. The approachable seat height (765mm) along with the high handlebar and long-ish footboard will likely accommodate riders of all shapes and sizes. The relatively light 107kg kerb weight should make it quite manageable as well. That said, the underseat storage, at a claimed 18 litres, isn’t impressive for an electric scooter.
The equipment it offers, like all LED lighting and a digital instrument console are par for the course. Along with the usual data like a speedometer, odometer and battery charge status, the console also shows a distance to empty readout. Next, it offers smartphone connectivity and a dedicated app with features like battery information, post ride stats, remote immobilisation and geo-fencing with last parked location. However, it misses out on navigation.

Under the skin, too, the C12i Max doesn’t really blow your socks off. Its hub motor offers a 2.5kW (peak) and 1.5kW (nominal) output for a claimed 0-40kmph time of 8.5 seconds, a top speed of 50kmph, and a gradeability of 15 degrees. What catches your attention, though, is its battery. Though it has a conservative 3.2kWh capacity, with a 0 to 100 percent charging time of six to seven hours, BGauss’ mentions an ARAI range figure of 143km! Now, that is a massive number, almost at par with what we eked out from the Move OS3-equipped Ola S1 Pro. But as it goes without saying, the top speed on both these scooters is vastly different.
The BGauss C12i Max goes up against the Hero Electric Photon LP and Ampere Magnux EX.
