A Saturday morning ride to Pune’s most famous breakfast destinations with BGauss
A Saturday morning ride which is followed by food is how I like my weekends to be spent. When we received an invitation from BGauss for just that, I was all game! BGauss had invited us for a food trail which included all visiting all the iconic culinary spots in Pune.
Now despite being a thoroughbred Punekar and a foodie at heart, there are still a lot of iconic spots I have yet to explore, BGauss presented just the right opportunity to do so. I had the BGauss RUV350 for the day. After having reached the meetup point, to my surprise, the guest who was flagging off the ride was none other than Swwapnil Joshi – renowned celebrity from the Marathi film industry. He has had quite an influence on Marathi cinema throughout the years. After sharing some pleasantries with the actor, and a few peers, off we went!
The first spot we visited was Surubhi Fast Food Restaurant located in Shivajinagar, famous for the delicious veg culinary options especially their Pav Bhaji. But this time around, we had their famous masala sandwich along with a refreshing watermelon juice. After a quick ride , we arrived at the second location, Sa Dosa Cafe. The Sa Dosa Cafe is a quintessential Pune food joint and as known for their authentic South-Indian cuisine, we had idli-sambhar and a Mango milkshake which was just the thing which we needed to cool ourselves off after riding through Pune’s traffic. The last iconic spot on our list was Durga cafe. Now this spot is especially close to my heart as it was my go-to hangout spot with my college mates as their cold coffee is something to die for. It had been quite some time since I last visited this spot and the memories which this place invoked, put a smile on my place which lasted the whole day. After having ourselves cooled off by the cold coffee, we started our journey to BGauss’ showroom where we ended the ride.
As far as how the BGauss RUV350 was to ride in the city, the electric scooter had enough power to allow for quick overtakes which was made easier with the availability of three riding modes: Eco, Ride and Sport. The TFT screen is easy to read and is bright enough even when the sun was right above our heads. That said, navigating through the various settings is somewhat challenging if you’re not used to the interface. The riding posture is nice and upright giving you a clear view of the road ahead. The ride quality is hard to say the least, the suspension feels very underdamped and the hard foam of the seat means you will feel every undulation on the road. But because of this stiffer suspension setup, the scooter feels very agile in the city and allows you to swiftly maneuver through traffic. The brakes on my scooter were ok at best. I needed to squeeze the brake lever quite hard for it to come to a stop quickly, but for most people, it shouldn’t be a big issue.
Overall, I would say that my Saturday couldn’t have been spent in a better way especially when two of the best things - riding and eating - were combined together. I do hope more manufacturers take up such steps to get people together over riding motorcycles and having food which brings back nostalgia.
