Bajaj Auto has finally launched the much anticipated Pulsar NS400Z in India at Rs 1,85,000 (ex-showroom). At this price, it is Rs 45,815 more affordable than the Bajaj Dominar 400 and just Rs 34,171 more than the Pulsar N250, making it the most affordable bike in the 400cc segment. It can be booked for just Rs 5,000. The deliveries will start from the first week of June 2024.
The Pulsar NS400Z follows a similar design language as the other models in the Pulsar NS lineup. At the front, the bike features an LED projector headlight accompanied by lightning bolt-shaped DRLs (daytime running lights). Its gold-finished inverted fork adds a premium feel to the bike’s overall look. The Pulsar NS400Z has a muscular fuel tank and the tank extensions are more curvy than the Pulsar NS200. The tank features a loud ‘NS’ graphic and has a similar tank pad as the NS200. There are faux vents on the side panels to make the bike look sportier. The NS400Z gets a split seat setup and a split grab rail for the pillion. The tail section gets a sharp design, which heavily resembles the NS200. It is available in four colour options: Glossy Racing Red, Brooklyn Black, Pewter Grey and Pearl Metallic White.
The Pulsar NS400Z borrows the same 373cc single-cylinder engine as the Dominar 400 that produces a peak output of 40PS at 8800rpm and 35NM at 6500rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. The NS400Z gets a claimed top speed of 154kmph, and comes with a 12-litre fuel tank. The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z mileage is claimed to be 28.5kmpl.
In terms of features, the NS400Z is equipped with a colour LCD console with a TFT inset. It gets Bluetooth connectivity with call/SMS alerts, phone battery and signal indicators, and the TFT inset displays turn-by-turn navigation. The Pulsar NS400Z rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, fitted with 110-section front and 140-section rear tyres. Only the rear tyre is radial. It comes with a seat height of 807mm and a 168mm ground clearance, and has a kerb weight of 174kg.
The Pulsar NS400Z's frame is derived from the Dominar 400. It is suspended on an inverted fork and a gas-charged monoshock. It features an all-new 320mm floating front disc brake with axially mounted callipers, different from the Dominar 400, smaller NS models, or any KTM bike. The rear gets a 230mm disc brake, both equipped with Grimeca brake calipers and come with dual-channel ABS, intervention varies depending on the riding modes.
