The Taiwanese giant may cater to the B2B as well as B2C space

The Indian electric two-wheeler space is going to see the entry of a big player, as Taiwanese electric mobility giant Gogoro will be announcing its plans for the country on November 3. In addition to bringing new electric scooters to India, Gogoro might also set up its renowned battery swapping network.

Gogoro might look to cater to the B2B market with its low-cost offerings like the Viva, while also doling out some trendy options for the B2C segment like the S1. However, expect this e-scoot to be renamed, as you know *cough* Ola S1 *cough*.

The Gogoro S1 features a mid-mounted electric motor producing peak power of 7.2kW and maximum torque of 202Nm at the rear wheel, capable of propelling the e-scoot from nought to 50kmph in 3.7 seconds. Inspired by supercars and jet fighters, it gets an aluminium monocoque chassis underpinned by a single arm front and rear monoshock.

The company’s battery swapping platform, the Gogoro Network, has over 2,100 AI-enabled swap stations in Taiwan, managing over 2,50,000 daily battery swaps. Furthermore, Gogoro claims that the battery can be swapped in about six seconds. Although Hero MotoCorp has a tie-up with Gogoro for its battery swapping tech as well as some future products, this upcoming launch has nothing to do with Hero MotoCorp or Vida.

While this comes as a big boost for the Indian electric space, it still remains to be seen how Hero MotoCorp might fit into this foray considering its connection with Gogoro. Further light will be shed on these questions after Gogoro reveals its plans for India on November 3, and we reckon the Indian-spec Gogoro S1 may be priced around the Rs 1.5 lakh mark.
