Gets a 95kmph top speed and a claimed range of 150km
After confirming its launch timeline and then its date, Hop Electric Mobility has finally launched its much awaited electric bike, the Hop Oxo in India at Rs 1,24,999 (including FAME II subsidy and GST).
Design
The company had already showcased its first electric motorcycle and the Oxo bears an uncanny resemblance to the older-generation Yamaha FZ-Fi. The headlight seems to be straight off the Yamaha FZ-Fi Version 2.0. Other bits on the bike include LED strips integrated into the “tank” and a bulbous-looking battery pack. While it looks lean, we wish the bike got its own identity in terms of design.
Battery
The Hop Oxo is driven by a 3kW (continuous) and 5.2kW/6.3kW (depending on the variant) BLDC (BrushLess DC) hub motor that’s powered by a 3.75kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Hop claims the Oxo can deliver a real range of 150km. The bike can be charged through any 16 Ampere power socket with its portable smart charger. The company also claims that it’ll take less than four hours to charge the bike from 0-80 percent, while 0-100 percent will take five hours. Oxo also says that the battery is designed to have a life of one lakh kilometres.
Features
In terms of features, the bike gets a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster. It comes with regenerative braking and 4G connectivity. The mobile application unlocks further features like distance to empty, navigation, speed control, geo fencing, ride stats and more. It also has three riding modes: Eco, Power and Sport, in which the claimed range varies between 150km, 100km and 70km respectively. The top speeds, on the other hand is 45kmph, 65kmph and 90kmph for the three modes respectively
Variants
The electric bike is available in two variants; the standard and the X variant. The Oxo makes 5.2kW, whereas the Oxo X makes 6.3kW of peak power. The Oxo makes 185Nm at the wheel while the Oxo X can pump out 200Nm, which helps propel the X to a higher top speed of 95kmph against the standard Oxo’s 90kmph. The Oxo X also gets an extra riding mode: Turbo, through which it goes from 0-40kmph in 3.5 seconds, while the standard takes four seconds to do the same. It also has a climbing ability of 18 degrees against the standard’s 15 degrees.
The Oxo gets a battery warranty of three years/ 50,000km while the Oxo X has a four years warranty (with unlimited kms).
Underpinnings
While the underpinnings are pretty straightforward, with a telescopic fork and dual shock absorbers, it gets fork gaiters for a bit of a rugged appeal. Braking prowess comes from a 240mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear, with CBS as standard. The bike gets an 18- and 17-inch wheel setup with a 90-section radial tyre at the front and 130-section radial one at the rear.
The pre-bookings for the e-bike are open at Rs 999 on the company’s official website and the deliveries will start from October 1. You can place orders online as well, for the electric bike. The EV manufacturer has already reported 5,000 bookings before the launch. The Hop Oxo has been priced at Rs 1,24,999, while the Oxo X carries a price tag of Rs 1,39,999, both prices including FAME II subsidy and GST. The electric bike hence goes up against other e-bikes in India like the Revolt RV 400 and freshers like Tork Kratos and Oben Rorr.
