Kawasaki has launched the much-awaited KLX230 in India. The mean-green offroad machine has finally arrived in India, and is locally manufactured!

Design

The Kawasaki KLX230  is a dual-sport motorcycle and looks like it belongs on a dirt-trail. The bike is available in two colour schemes: Lime Green and Battle Grey. In terms of design, it gets an LED headlight and bulb-type indicators with a high-rise front fender. Round mirrors, a straight handle bar and sharp tank extensions make the bike look quite aggressive. KLX badging is present in black on the tank fairing. The footpegs are mid-mounted which gives the rider a nice upright posture. Towards the rear, you will find an upswept exhaust just beneath the passenger seat. The flat seat is similar to the one found on motocross bikes.

Underpinnings

On the mechanical front, the Kawasaki KLX230 is powered by a 233cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 18.1PS at 8,000rpm and 18.3Nm at 6,400rpm and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. It gets a steel perimeter frame.  It has a 37mm telescopic fork with 240mm wheel travel and a preload-adjustable monoshock with 250mm wheel travel. The brakes consist of a 265mm petal disc at the front and a 220mm petal disc at the rear. The wheel setup comprises a  21-inch front and an 18-inch rear, wire-spoke wheels. The ground clearance of the KLX230 is 265mm while it has a pretty tall seat height of 880mm. The bike is very light as it weighs just 139kg kerb. 

Features

In terms of features, the Kawasaki KLX230 gets an LCD screen with Bluetooth connectivity, call/SMS and email alerts, and two trip meters . For riding aids, Kawasaki has only given the KLX switchable ABS for both front and rear wheel. 

Price and Rivals

Kawasaki KLX230 prices will be unveiled sometime in December, and the deliveries will being in January 2025. The KLX will go against the likes of Hero Xpulse 200 4V and the Yezdi Adventure.
