Ola S1 Air Launched

Diwali has come a few days early, as Ola Electric has launched its most affordable electric scooter, the S1 Air, at an introductory price of Rs 79,999 (ex-showroom including Fame II subsidy). The introductory prices will be valid till 24th October, post which it will bear a price tag of Rs 84,999 (ex-showroom Delhi including Fame II). The EV manufacturer has also revealed the details of the MoveOS 3.0 software update.

In terms of design, the S1 Air sports a couple of cosmetic differences including a more commuter-ish grab rail, plain saddle, less edgy design, and black-coloured panels on the lower body. Apart from that, the e-scooter features a telescopic fork and dual shock absorber suspension setup instead of the fancy single-shock unit on its siblings.

Unlike its siblings’ mid-mounted motor, the S1 Air gets a smaller hub motor and a much smaller 2.5kWh battery pack. Now, this smaller specification hardware obviously brings down the performance, as you can see in the table. What’s interesting though, is that the S1 Air is still on par with other premium electric scooter offerings like the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak in terms of performance. The S1 Air is also around 25kg lighter than the S1 Pro and tips the scales at 99kg (kerb).

The part where Ola has not held back on is the features. Despite it being the most basic variant of the three Ola e-scooter offerings, it comes packed with reverse mode, a seven-inch touchscreen display with smartphone connectivity, multiple ride profiles, music and call control, multiple riding moods (that changes the layout of the console as well as the motor sound) and party mode, where the scooter’s speaker plays music from the connected smartphone.

Ola MoveOS 3.0

Apart from that, Ola Electric has also revealed the details of the MoveOS 3.0 software update today. The 3.0 brings features like faux motor sounds, hill hold, vacation mode which conserves the battery over an extended period of non-usage, proximity unlock, ride moods (Bolt, Vintage and Eclipse), regenerative braking V2 (with three modes), Hypercharging, Bluetooth calling and key sharing.

You can sign up for the beta testing of the Ola MoveOS 3.0 starting October 24th, whereas the official rollout of the update will take place in early December.

Ola S1 Air

To say the least, Ola is taking a very strong fight to petrol-powered and electric scooters alike with its extremely competitive pricing and feature-packed S1 Air. It is just Rs 4,413 more expensive than the Honda Activa 6G.

Summing up, the e-scooter can be reserved at Rs 999 starting today with the payment window opening in the first week of February 2023. The EV manufacturer also claims that the deliveries for the S1 Air will commence in the first week of April 2023. Ola has also introduced side mounted pillion footrest, centre stand and under seat storage organisers along with details of more accessories which will be revealed in the coming months.
