- The bike will comply with BS6 regulations which is likely to affect its performance.
- The updated model is likely to receive a substantial price hike.
Rumours were rife about the BS6-compliant RR 310 getting a substantial price hike. This left almost everyone puzzled since all that’s usually updated for a bike to comply with BS6 emissions are the motor, ECU and the catalytic converter. However, recent spy shots shed some light on the number of changes the bike’s gone through. This includes mechanical, cosmetic and features updates.
For starters, the spied RR 310 features a brand new full-colour digital instrument console. It’s also more rectangular-ish compared to the ovalish design on the current model. Look closely and you’d also notice navigation buttons on the left-hand side switchgear. The revised switchgear hints at the console possibly featuring Bluetooth connectivity along with a host of other new features like the updated RTR 200 4V.
One of the biggest problems that plagued the RR 310 were engine vibes. The brand already carried out updates with the current model to sort out this issue, but it still wasn’t up to the mark. It’s possible that TVS reworked the engine to tone down the vibrations to a bare minimum while making it much smoother than before.
It’ll retain the same 6-speed transmission aided by a slipper clutch. That said, the sub-400cc supersport may see a drop in performance in order to meet cleaner tailpipe emissions, just like the BS6 RTR 160 and 200 4V. For reference, the RR 310 in its current state of tune produces 34PS at 9700rpm and 27.3Nm at 7700rpm.
Another big update comes in the form of new paint schemes where the tanks painted in a contrast silver while the rest of the bodywork is jet black with red highlights. Aside from this, the bike is expected to remain unchanged.
Considering the aforementioned updates from TVS Apache, we expect the BS6 RR 310 to carry a premium of around Rs 15,000 along with a likely launch of early 2020. The current-gen RR 310 is priced at Rs 2.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and competes against the KTM RC 390 which is likely to be updated to comply with BS6 emissions pretty soon.
