The electric two-wheeler segment is currently booming with innovative solutions from nascent companies. Kuberg, a Czech electric motorbike company, is one such brand. It specialises in electric dirt bikes for kids and adults but recently introduced a radical product that seems to be grabbing headlines everywhere. We’re talking about the Kuberg Ranger electric dirt bike which doubles up as a scooter when you aren’t sliding about in the dirt. The bike also gets some unique features which helps it stand out from the rest of the crowd.
The Ranger’s conversation piece has to be its remarkable seat design. The seat features an air-lift system (pneumatic) which helps it fully recline with the push of a button and straighten itself back up for a sedate ride when needed. The former seat position can be used while standing and riding off-road while the latter is more useful on the road.
Even the footrests are designed to mimic floorboards instead of conventional dirt bike-style serrated footpegs. Powering the bike is a 14kW electric motor with three ride modes: Eco, Adventure and Race. Eco limits the speed to about 15kmph, Adventure offers 40kmph while Race lets you go bonkers at 80kmph.
There are two battery setups to choose from: a single or a dual 1.15 kWh pack. The latter offers a claimed range of 100km on a single charge. The range drops by half with the single battery setup. The dual battery pack takes about 2 hours for a full charge.
What’s interesting is the Rangers smaller 14-inch rear wheel and a DNM Burner rear shock. Pair this with a Manitou Dorado fork with 180mm of travel and you have the perfect recipe for some off-road fun. Heck, you even have the option to add a cargo trailer if you ever decide to go camping or tow something behind you.
The Ranger stops on a dime too, courtesy of Tektro Orion 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes and regenerative braking. Other than this, Kuberg lets you choose between two tyre tyre options: trail or knobby based on your usage. Believe it or not, the entire bike weighs just 50kg kerb.
There are three models to choose from: Standard, Race and Adventure priced at $3998 (Rs 2.97 lakh), $4545 (Rs 3.38 lakh) $4995 (Rs 3.72 lakh). Sure, that’s quite expensive by Indian standards, but it could be a whole lot of fun if you’re a Pro BMX rider looking for something more environmentally friendly.
