It looks particularly similar to one Yamaha bike….

Hop Oxo

After a couple of teasers, Hop Electric has launched the Oxo electric motorcycle in India and it sounds promising on paper. So, let’s have a look at the latest electric bike for the Indian market through ten images:

Hop Oxo Front

The Hop Oxo’s design isn’t outlandish and looks like a commuter. In fact, the headlight of this electric motorcycle seems to be straight off the Yamaha FZ-Fi Version 2.0 and the placement of the battery pack is right where an internal combustion (IC) engine would be, and to say the least, the finish looks odd.

Hop Oxo Motor

At the heart of the Hop Oxo is a 5.2kW motor which makes 3kW of continuous power and 185Nm at the wheel. Its top variant, the Oxo X, packs a 6.3kW motor with a continuous output of 3kW and 200Nm at the wheel.

You get three riding modes – Eco, Power and Sport – and additionally, the Oxo X also features a Turbo mode, which, the company claims, will help the EV achieve a top speed of 90kmph and accelerate from 0 to 40kmph in 3.5 seconds.

The EV’s motor is paired with a 3.75kWh Lithium-ion battery pack that provides a (claimed) range of 150km on both variants. This is the same as the claimed range of the Oben Rorr and the Revolt RV 400.

That said, the range drops to 100km and 70km in the Power and Sport mode, respectively. The top speed, meanwhile, is restricted to 45kmph, 65kmph and 90kmph, respectively in the Eco, Power and Sport modes

Hop Oxo

Interestingly, the Hop Oxo can be charged at any 16A socket with the portable smart charge and the claimed charging time of 0-80 per cent is less than four hours. You can charge from 0-100 per cent in five fours.

Hop Oxo Instrument Console

Hop Electric has equipped the Oxo with a five-inch LCD instrument console. It comes with regenerative braking and 4G connectivity. The mobile application unlocks further features like distance to empty, navigation, speed control, geo fencing, ride stats and more.

The switchgear on the Hop Oxo looks commuterish and its design looks crude in our opinion.

Hop Oxo Suspension

The Hop Oxo features basic underpinnings with a telescopic fork and dual shocks taking up suspension duty.

Hop Oxo Brakes

The electric bike gets disc brakes at both ends with the safety net of an electronically assisted combined braking system. Furthermore, there’s also dynamic regenerative braking which is unique in this segment. Hop Electric has used an 18-/17-inch alloy wheel setup. The front tyre is a 90-section one, while you get a 130-section one at the rear.

Hop Oxo

At Rs 1,24,999 for the base variant and Rs 1,39,999 for the X variant (both prices ex-showroom, including FAME II subsidy and GST), the Hop Oxo joins the ranks of the Tork Kratos and Oben Rorr. While the bike sounds promising, we hope Hop works on establishing a strong dealer network and ramping up production, so that there are no bottlenecks while deliveries commence.
