Everve Motors, a Pune-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has taken the wraps off its first premium scooter the EF1. It's currently in its prototype form but is expected to hit our roads by the end of 2020. The scooter's premium positioning means it’s in a league of its own, with the closest rival being the Ather 450X. It packs a powerful electric motor, a truck-load of features, and a design that sets it apart from the current breed of EVs in the Indian market. The EF1 will be available in two variants that use a 3kW or 5Kw motor.
In terms of design, the EV looks like a sporty maxi-scooter, with panels that flow beautifully with the overall design. It features a projector headlight flanked by LED DRLs, an LED tail light, a full-colour instrument console with readouts like range, battery status, maps, location, error codes, riding modes and boost. The console is also equipped to handle OTA (Over The Air) updates.
The EF1 has a claimed top speed of up to 110kmph (limited 90kmph) to and delivers a claimed range of 100km on a single charge. Its dual lithium-ion battery setup can be fully charged within 5 hours via a conventional 5A socket or 50 per cent in 1.5 hours using a faster charger. According to Everve Motors, this sporty e-scooter can bolt from 0-60kmph in 8.73 seconds.
An upside down front fork and a twin gas-charged shock absorber setup at the rear take care of suspension duties while disc brakes at both ends anchor the scooter.
Overall, this e-scooter form Everve EF1 promises to offer a more premium experience when compared to other electric scooters such as the Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak electric and the TVS iCube. The brand will even go an extra mile and deliver the scooter to your doorstep once it comes into production.
With so many electric scooters to choose from, we can’t wait to put them to test and find out how they fare against each other.
