The Hyderabad based Fabulous and Beyond (FAB) Motors India is planning to set-up a production facility in the outskirts of Hyderabad to manufacture Regal Raptor Motorcycles. To set-up this whole new facility, FAB Motors will do an incremental investment of Rs 1,000 crore over the next four years. The company is launching Daytona 350, Bobber-350 and Cruiser 350 in India, priced between Rs. 2.9 - 3.3 lac. The Indian facility is expected to start delivering around 500 units per month in a single shift after a year from now, so the bikes will be imported via CKD route initially. The first showroom of the company will be inaugurated within a couple of weeks in Hyderabad.
The US based Regal Raptor is a 25 year old bike manufacturer, which has designed, developed and patented over 70% of the parts used in its products. The company uses 250cc – 1,600cc air/water-cooled, twin-cylinder, 4-stroke engines, which are produced in-house. The Indian line-up of the company will be powered by their 320cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine, which churns out a maximum power of 22.8bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 22Nm at 6,500rpm. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed transmission via a wet multi-plate clutch assembly.
Regal Raptor already selling its motorcycles in 39 different countries before it inked an agreement with the FAB Motors to manufacture and distribute its motorcycles in 9 countries including India. Other 8 countries in the deal confirmed in October 2014 are Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman and Yemen. Regal Raptor is going to contribute for a share of the future investment, while FAB Motors will tie-up with banks for the remaining portion.
