The electric scooter will be unveiled on 27th November
Honda has teased more details of the much anticipated Activa electric on their social media handles. This time around, they have teased the charging port of the electric scooter and it seems quite small. The size of the charging port could very well mean that it won’t support fast charging. However it could allow the owners to charge their batteries at home, without removing them from the scooter.
What we know so far
Honda has previously teased that the bike will be available in two variants: one with a TFT screen and another with an LCD. The Honda Activa electric will get riding modes as teased earlier. Other features we know so far are music controls, turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, real-time power consumption and a reverse mode. The scooter will also get removable batteries which Honda aims to set up battery swapping stations across their dealerships, service network and at Hindustan Petroleum fuel stations, whom they have partnered with. The Honda Activa electric will be based upon the CUV e platform which we already have a glimpse of.
What do we expect?
The Honda Activa electric will be based upon the CUV e which gets two removable 1.3kWh batteries. An advantage of having removable batteries is that you could upgrade the batteries if Honda rolls out higher capacity ones while not having the need to buy a new scooter! Another advantage of having swappable batteries is that it keeps the cost in check as you do not really own the batteries and if all manufacturers plan to have the same battery setup across their electric models, it will become much easier to improve battery technology across all electric two-wheelers in the country. As teased earlier, the scooter will get a range of around 100km on a full charge. We expect the scooter to be priced around Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.3 lakh (ex-showroom) and once launched, it will go against the likes of Ola S1, Ather Rizta, Vida V1 and TVS iQube.
