Hero MotoCorp has launched the Destini 125 Xtec, which is a more feature packed variant of the standard model. It retails at Rs 79,990 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it a whole Rs 10,090 more expensive than the standard variant.
So what exactly do you get for this extra moolah? Well, to begin with, the company has redesigned the headlight nacelle and offered a LED unit as well. It looks a lot sharper than the base Destini 125’s conservative-looking halogen headlight. It also features chromed-out rear view mirrors, apron-mounted glovebox with USB charging port, a new semi-digital instrument cluster, chromed out handlebar ends, and new colour schemes. The instrument console also gets bluetooth connectivity with call and SMS alerts. That said, it still does not get turn-by-turn navigation.
The scooter retains the same mechanicals as before. It is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled heart churning out 9.1PS and 10.4Nm. It is enhanced by an idling stop system too. Underpinnings include a telescopic fork, single rear shock absorber, 130mm drum brake with 10-inch wheels at both ends.

The new Hero Destini 125 Xtec competes against the TVS Jupiter 125, Suzuki Access 125, Honda Activa 125, and the Yamaha Fascino 125. The Access 125 comes with turn-by-turn navigation, whereas the Fascino gets a segment-first mild-hybrid system. On the other hand, the Jupiter impresses with its massive 33-litre underseat storage.
All in all, the premium for the Destini 125 Xtec is quite hefty, and Hero could’ve thrown in turn-by-turn navigation and a front disc brake for the price. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
