A Good news for the postmen of Gurgaon! The postal department of Gurgaon now uses a dozen around GPS-enabled vehicles that includes six rented E-bikes. These are employed to deliver posts in DLF Phase I.
Regarding this, Mr. Umesh Verma, Post-master-general said, "This initiative has been taken in support of a pollution-free environment. Besides, it will also help in the speedy and prompt delivery of mail." Rented E-bikes, which are used in this initiative will cost Rs. 1.5 for 1 km on an average that includes electricity and maintenance.
In India, most of the postmen not only use bicycles provided by the department but also have to go out on their feet to deliver letters and packets. Currently, the postal division is having a severe rivalry from most of the private courier operators who use two-wheelers for the delivery system. Now, the employment of these e-bikes is expected to bring revolution in the delivery system and also speed up the postal services.
