It is reported that US based, Harley Davidson, International superbike manufacturer would provide affordable bikes in India by 2012-2013. The upcoming Harley Davidson bikes in India would be cheaper than present running bikes because the company is planing to set a manufacturing facility in the domestic market. The Indian labour and India made bike components are affordable that might bring down the cost of the HD bikes in India as lower as Rs 4 lakh.

It is expected that the US giant will launch bikes with tag of made-for-India or made-in-India in coming two years. The all new HD bikes will cost less than 4 lakh. It seems that upcoming Made in India Harley Davidson bikes would be cheaper than its presently running Harley Davidson SuperLow and Harley Davidson Iron 883 which being assembled in India.

It has been considered that either Indian labour and bike parts are cheaper than HD's Pennsylvania and Missouri labour and parts. But if in future, its air cooled V-Twin engines which are using its V-Rod family will not be used in India made HD bikes. Now the company wants to build cheaper HD bikes in the Indian domestic market with using cheaper parts which will attract less maintenance costs.

Presently Harley Davidson SuperLow 883 and HD Iron 883 are cheaper bikes in India form its stable but if an Harley Davidson is designed in India for India would be very interesting is the kind of motorcycle in the domestic market. It is expected that muscle cruiser Sportster XR1200X with a lower capacity engine and at a lower kerb weight would be the perfect Harley for Indian conditions. And it is believed that the all new upcoming cheaper bikes would be followed by it.

If Harley Davidson designs a brand new engine with liquid cooling technology that may be profitable machine for the company as its V-Rod engines. This new engine and motorcycle will foray in India and other countries. And these 2012-2013 HD bikes may be major competitor of Royal Enfield motorcycles.
