The American motorcycle manufacturer, Harley-Davidson has announced that there will be an increase in the prices of selected models. The prices will be hiked up by Rs. 30,000 due to the impact of the Rupee-Dollar exchange rate fluctuation. Harley-Davidson India has said that the Street 750, the Sportster series and the Softail range of motorcycles will face the price hike in India. This will come into effect from the new fiscal, 2016-17.
Presently, the Street 750 comes with a starting price tag of Rs. 4.52 lac. The offerings from the Sportster series of H-D come with a base price of Rs. 7.37 lac, Rs.8.9 lac and Rs. 9.12 lac for the Iron 883, the 1200 Custom and the Forty-Eight respectively. Coming to the Softail series, the motorcycles have a starting price of Rs. 15.15 lac for Fat Boy, Rs. 16.4 lac for Breakout and Rs. 16.6 lac for Heritage Softail Classic (all prices, ex-showroom).
Of late, the value of the Indian currency has been decreasing against the US dollar which has resulted in Harley-Davidson increasing the price of some models from its Indian line-up. Currently, the value stands at Rs. 67.04 for a dollar. Some motorcycles will not be affected by this price hike like the Street Bob, the Fat Bob, the Night Rod, the Road King, the Street Glide Special and the CVO Limited.
