Harley-Davidson has released a new ‘Learn to Ride’ program for all active-duty, retired, reservists and veterans of the U.S. military. The training program to enhance riding skills and learn new tricks will commence from May 16th and run through September 13th of 2015. Although for the U.S. military, we imagine this project will greatly encourage proud fighters of the Indian Armed Forces and improve upon their riding skills.
The company has joined hands with U.S. Army veteran and two-time Paralympian, Heath Calhoun, along with six other riders from the military as well for the announcement. These skilled riders demonstrated fundamental motorcycle riding exercises on the USS Yorktown in Charleston, S.C.
“As a veteran, and a rider, I have found that nothing is more therapeutic than getting on my bike and taking a ride,” says Heath Calhoun, Wounded Warrior Project Alumnus, and proud owner of a 2014 Harley-Davidson Tri-Glide. “I am honoured to help Harley-Davidson empower all of us who have served to find comfort on the open road.”
Those currently deployed outside the U.S. can also submit the “Learn to Ride” form by Sept. 13 and will receive a voucher for free motorcycle safety training that is good through 2016. “For us at Harley-Davidson this is our way to thank the millions of people who have courageously defended our country and everyone’s personal freedom to ride,” said Christian Walters, Managing Director, U.S. Sales and Marketing, Harley-Davidson, and also a former Major in the U.S. Army. Harley-Davidson would be greatly appreciated if they could perhaps do so for the Indian Military soon!
